As gamers, we often find ourselves on epic adventures in outer space – from exploring unknown galaxies to foiling the plans of evil galactic overlords. This week I had the chance to experience one such adventure with Starfield. The Crimson Fleet has a quest line filled with action and intrigue. My time with the pirate fleet was filled with mission after mission that not on;y had an entertaining story, but great action too! I fought against overwhelming odds in what felt like real-life space warfare and completed undercover espionage that made me feel like I was in a spy thriller! If you're looking for an amazing intergalactic journey through a vibrant universe without leaving your home then join me on my review of the Starfield Crimson Fleet questline!
Setting the Scene - Introducing the Crimson Fleet
You first meet the Crimson Fleet at the beginning of Starfield, as they are the very first to attack you. Early on you encounter them from time to time, but the beginning of Crimson Fleet story arch was cleverly designed and came as a surprise to me. I was traveling to New Atlantis when UC SysDef picked me up for having contraband! (I had forgotten I even had it!) I was then voluntold to join the Crimson Fleet undercover to take down the infamous band of space pirates! After a couple of prove-it missions, you get to go the the Crimson Fleet headquarters, the Key, and meet their leader Delgado. At this point, you get to play your best Brain O'Conner and get to the meat of the story!
Aboard the Key - Exploring my double life with the Crimson Fleet story arch in Starfield
As a seasoned gamer, I've explored numerous worlds, but none have captivated me quite like Starfield's Crimson Fleet story arch, in particular, has given me the chance to experience a thrilling double life. On one hand, I'm a starry-eyed adventurer, eager to explore the vast galaxy before me. On the other hand, I'm a cunning member of the Crimson Fleet, an elite group of space pirates who know no boundaries. It's a fascinating duality that makes for an incredibly immersive experience. Whether I'm zipping across the stars in search of treasure or plotting my next heist, I'm always on the edge of my seat, eager to see where this double life will take me next. By the end I was completely torn, do I put my lot in permanently with these brigands whom I've come to call my friends, or do I follow law and order and help UC Sysdef the protector of the colonies?
Meeting New Faces - Introducing some of my companions and allies during my time with the Crimson Fleet
During my time with the Crimson Fleet, I had the pleasure of getting to know some truly fascinating companions and allies. There was Delgado the leader of the Fleet who is a true dreamer and the visionary. Then there was Neava, the second in command and the realist and backbone of the pirates! And let's not forget about Jazz, the brilliant engineer who keeps the space station base the Key operational, she's also a vendor that sells a nice selection of ship parts. Each member brought their unique talents and strengths to the table, like Shinya Voss the living computer that handles all of the fleet's money. It was an honor to call them my comrades, but I also knew that deep down they were still pirates who lie, kill and steal!
My Finest Hour - Describing a major victory against the Crimson Fleet
It was the day I had been waiting for - the day I would finally choose the Crimson Fleet or the UC Sysdef. I chose the UC Sysdef, and decided to complete the task I had originally agreed to. The daunting task of taking down their fleet seemed impossible, but I had trained hard and prepared myself for this very moment. As the battle raged on, I could feel my heart racing and my adrenaline pumping. I had never felt so alive. With strategic maneuvers and unyielding determination, I was able to successfully defeat their fleet and emerge victorious. I actually died in this space battle multiple times, as did my fiancée who found an interesting bug, where if you stand during dogfighting you can sometimes prevent getting shot at giving your shield time to recharge. When I did finally complete the space battle it was truly my finest hour and a moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Returning Home - Reflecting on my time serving with the Crimson Fleet and its impact on me as a person
Returning home after serving with the Crimson Fleet has been a surreal experience. The adventures I experienced and the friendships I made feel like a distant memory as I try to adjust to my post pirate life once again. However, as I reflect on my time with the Fleet, I realize how much it has impacted me as a person. I've learned about all the shades of grey in Starfield. Although I chose the UC Sysdef, I still find myself wondering if it was the right choice. Even if it was, could I have done more to find evidence to get crew members arrested before they flew against me in what would be their final flight? I don't know, but you can bet I will on the second play though!
Spoils of war - Some of the unique loot I got from the questline
After hours of sluething, conning and facing the fiercest foes, I finally emerged victorious from my quest. And while the satisfaction of achieving my goal was more than enough, the spoils of war that I gathered along the way were simply priceless. Among the many unique treasures I acquired, there was a gun called the Revenant the rifle of the lendary founder of the Crismon Fleet, Jasper Kryx. I also got a gun from the current leader Delago called the Keelhauler. Also, a couple of ship parts which include a scan jammer, a conduction grid, and a comm spike! Each item held a story of its own, a testament to the battles I had fought and the challenges I had overcome. As I proudly displayed my loot to my fellow space farers, I knew that this would be a quest that I would remember for years to come.
From my time with the Crimson Fleet, I gained more experience than I ever could have imagined. I faced down dangerous enemies, formed relationships with interesting people and fellow adventurers, and forged a path of resounding success that no one could deny. My experience in the Crimson Fleet was an invaluable part of my growth in the game, and a perfect opportunity to gain insight into what good quests can look like. The spoils of war were a luxury indeed, but what remains most valuable are all the memories with my former friends. Sure enough, they may be scattered across the stars now, but our shared spirit still lives on. This is why it was so special to serve under that crimson flag - a salute to bravery, camaraderie and glory in spite of adversity and danger. So now we must ask ourselves: How did your time with the fleet go? What stories lie beyond the stars waiting to be told? Let us take up arms together and show the world what true courage can do!
This sounds really fun! You should definitely share more of your missions!!
From how you’re explaining it, sounds like a very thrilling mission! I‘m going to try it!
